I just purchased and downloaded the most recent version of EE. I have installed EE a number of times with different clients but for some reason this install is giving me the following error:

    ——
Unable to connect to your database server using the provided settings.
    Filename: controllers/wizard.php
    Line Number: 1532
    ——

I’ve been able to successfully log into the database a number of times using phpMyAdmin, so I know I have the username is correct. I’m using MediaTemple GS, not sure if there is anything special I have to do. I did notice that it gives me a prefix on the db name:

    ex. “db255532_HancorisEE”

Wondering if I need to drop the prefix. I’m also running off of a server default domain:

    ex. “http://s255532.gridserver.com/”

Just wondering if any of these would complicate a connection with the database. I’ve tried to recreate the database and the username password to see if that works, it does not.

    Please let me know, thanks!

Are you using the internal or external host for Media Temple?

Not sure exactly what you’re asking, but I’m using the service listed below and download the software from EE site and uploading it.

    http://mediatemple.net/webhosting/gs/

Does that answer your question? Thanks for the help!

Sure. When you setup a database in MT it shows to hosts an internal and external host. Try either of these.
The 2 hosts will look like this:

    internal-db.s00000.gridserver.com
    external-db.s00000.gridserver.com

Replace the s00000 with your number.

Hey, thanks for helping me through this.

I’ve tried both in the setup process and neither of them work.

    Any other thoughts?

    Hello nate8684,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

Have you contacted MT for help? Did they send an email with directions on how to use the DB?

The error you are getting from ExpressionEngine is pretty specific. Either credentials or database settings are incorrect.

    Cheers,
