    Hi guys.

A month ago, Webfaction, our web hosting company, changed our website to a new server with a different ip address. Since, we’ve had a lot of trouble sending our newsletter using the “communicate” tool.
    The error is the following:
    unable to connect to smtp.webfaction.com:25 (Connection timed Out) in /core.email.php on line 1407 / 1552 / 1573
We’ve talked to the people on Webfaction and they told us that everything looks fine. We’re running on 1.6.7.

So any help from you would be great.

    Thanks

    Hey ElParlanteAmarillo,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

How many emails are you sending at a time?

If you send just one email, do you still get this error?

    Thank you,

    Hi Shane

    Here’s the thing:
When i sent one email worked fine, but when i sent mass mails it gave me the error.
I’ve tried sending 300 and 200 per batch.
I have different mail sending lists, so i tried one by one, but it only worked for the first batch (200 or 300) in every list.

    Thanks for the help.

    Hello ElParlanteAmarillo,

This makes sense. The time out occurs because of the amount of email being sent.

I believe if you go back to your hosting provider and tell them that you can send one email just fine, but that bulk email causes time out issues for the mail daemon that they will be able to help you out.

Can you give that a try?

    Thank you,

    Thanks again.

    Hi there.

    I’m a little lost here.
    Here’s what Webfaction said:
“I assume that you are just sending emails exactly as if you are sending one email, but in a loop. If this is the case, I can’t think of any reason why one email would work but multiple emails would not. Can you give us the specific command which you use to initiate the bulk email send?”

I don’t understand what are they said, perhaps you do.

    Thanks Again

    Hello ElParlanteAmarillo,

Let’s try a different email provider/service to see what happens. Instead of using the local smtp, can you use gmail or Yahoo! or similar?

    Thank you,
