    Hi,

In EE1.x we used LG File/Image Manager fieldtype. Various fields contain a path to a document/image on our server. We use .jppg, .pdf, .swf and .flv. The field has a button which calls Moxiecode Filemanger/Imagemanager. We could make directories, upload multiple files, rename and so on. The documents/images were uploaded to lots of different directories (maybe 100-150) on our server. This all works very fine for about three year now.

    I’m upgrading to EE2.x

There is a filemanager but it is not suitable for direct access to the server upload directories. Users can’t make there own subdirectories. No multi-upload etc.
I don’t want to restrict my users to a predefined (big/huge) list of uploaddirectories.
So using a fieldtype ‘File’ is not an option because of the limited filemanager. I also look at using ‘Text Input’ with the option of the File Chooser but then EE puts a <href> and {filedir_#} in my path (unbelievable; I didn’t ask that; hands of my content). So that’s not usable. I’m really really amazed that such a basic thing like putting a serverpath in a field, is so difficult. I’m very disappointed.

Has anyone a suggestion for a filemanager which includes multiple upload and making directories on the server and putting a ‘clean’ path in the attached field.

Have been looking for Assets but not sure if that serves my purposes.

Assets or native EE are your only options.

Yep, thanks for the help with this one, Mike.

CBB, you might want to ask Leevi if a site using his EE 1 file manager add-on would have trouble upgrading to EE 2 with plans to use the native File Manager or P&T’s Assets.
