This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I have a similar issue. running EE 1.67 sounds like I need to upgrade to EE 1.73?. How is that actually accomplished? I have a commercial license. Do I need to download a 1.73? or do I just need to replace core files? Please detail. My hosting provide upgraded my version of PHP to 5.3 Thanks

    Hey Terry,

    Welcome to the forums!

You will need to update to either 1.7.3 or to 2.5.2.

Please log in to your ExpressionEngine account at ExpressionEngine.com and see if you still have an active download. If you do, then you will just download the latest version of 1.X and then follow this guide to update.

    I hope this help!

    Cheers,

    Thanks Shane,

I am not clear if we should move to 1.73 or the latest EE version. Can you advise?

The EE website was created with a standard version of Expression Engine 1.67. I don’t believe we used any 3rd party add-ins. Unfortunately I cannot open our control panel as I can only see errors. Because of our hosting providers PHP version update to 5.3 we are now seeing a variety of PHP errors e.g.:

Deprecated: Function eregi() is deprecated in /nfs/c04/h01/mnt/66909/domains/terryrosen.com/html/terry/db/db.mysql.php on line 342

    Hello Terry,

You have a choice, and I imagine you will want to first see what is in your ExpressionEngine downloads as available.

The latest 1.X will work, but you may also want to consider going to the latest version while you have the opportunity. It’s really your call.

    Thank you,

    Shane,

I just want to know if the process will be seamless or with more issues going to 2.x vs 1.73.

There is both a download and upgrade button available. The last purchase is recorded as: 2009-04-13

    Hey terryrosen,

I am not sure about seamless. It depends on the plugins you have installed and the developers who created them. Some plugins may not be available in 2.X, but if they are available, upgrading is very easy. It’s mostly drag and drop.

    Does that help?

    Thank you,
