I recently pushed a site to a EngineHosting server. I can’t seem to get the templates to sync up. I keep getting “Cant’ save your template as text file” errors. I’ve tried editing the path under “Global Preferences” a bunch without any luck.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Bryce

    Hello Bryce,

    Thank you for your question.

Have you checked permissions on the server? Does the template directory have the correct perms?

Please check that and let me know.

    Cheers,

    Hey bryce,

    That’s perfect.

What about the path for “Basepath to Template File Directory”.

Is that correct? It should be an absolute path from the base directory. Basically if you open up FTP how far can you go up in the directory structure. That’s going to be your base.

    Cheers,

Here’s what I have for Basepath to Template File Directory…

    /public_html/system/expressionengine/templates/

    Hey bryce,

Can you try to change the perms to 777 to see if that helps?

    Might be a ownership issue.

    Thank you,

Same error. Does it matter where the directory is located? Would it help if I moved it up the tree some?

Looks like the problem was just a bad file path. Corrected it by looking in the CP under Tools > Utilities > PHP Info for the value of the DOCUMENT_ROOT or SCRIPT_FILENAME variables in Apache for a hint at the correct full path.
