HTTP proxy with authentication for the modules

We have an installation of EE 2.4.0 and can’t seem to link up to any 3rd party websites via modules, plugin or extensions.

eg. Pic Puller, CP Analytics, Twitter Timeline etc

With Pic Puller for example when we I try and authorise the application it just sits and hangs waiting for EE to respond then shows a 504 Gateway error message. Same thing for Google Analytics with CP Analytics, it simply times out after a long period saying it could not connect.

The server hosts have asked me to ask this wonderful forum “how to implement an HTTP proxy with authentication for the modules?”

    Does anyone have any clues.

Also, I am not sure if this is relevant but I checked the EE installation wizard to see if there were any clues and noticed that “Ability to send Pings” was not supported. Could this have anything to do with it, if so, what needs to be set on the server to allow this?

Any help on this would be huge as it’s the only thing holding up the site going live :(

It sounds like your host has this server really locked down if they’re requiring an HTTP proxy for authentication. I’d be surprised if any of the modules support this, but that’s a question the developers of those add-ons will need to answer since it would be on a case-by-case basis. Let me recommend asking the question of these add-on makers directly.
