Having an issue with notifications not being sent upon creation of an entry.  I’m using solspace’s calendar module and SAEF on the front end to create the entry.  All is going well, just nothing being sent as a notification.  Inside the entry weblog’s preferences I have my email address selected and YES to Enable recipient list below for weblog entry notification?

Not sure why it’s not working, I mean the entry is being created successfully.  Maybe I’m missing another step?  Thanks for any help.

    ExpressionEngine 1.7.3 Build:  20120606

***just tried this in the CP (creating the event that way through the publish tab.  Also not sending notifications

    Hi Jeramiah,

I’m sorry to hear about the trouble with notifications!

let’s make sure everything is good no the server end regarding email. ExpressionEngine includes some utility php scripts that we can use to make sure the server is working properly out side of ExpressionEngine.

    Open /system/utilities/ and locate email_test.php

Copy that to your web-root and then visit the script in a browser and run the test.

Get back to me with the results and we can start troubleshooting from there.

    Cheers,

Thank you for the reply and troubleshooting step.

This is the result of that test:

No PHP errors were encountered, which indicates that PHP correctly attempted to send your email message.

If you do not receive the email it could be due to one of the following problems:

Your hosting provider might not permit email to be sent using PHP mail
The path to Sendmail is incorrect in your server’s PHP ini file
Your server does not have Sendmail configured correctly.
The recipient’s email server has spam blocking software which is incorrectly identifying messages send using PHP as spam

I did receive an email in my inbox from this test.  I have tried multiple email addresses in the notify field, just never works.

    ***HOLD UP***

I went into the Admin>System Preferences>Email Configuration and ensured that I put Return email address for auto-generated emails.  Then I did another test and now it’s working.  I didn’t realize that field had to be populated.  Thanks.  you can close.
