    All of a sudden I am getting errors on my site with path s that i need to change not being valid. Also captcha images not showing up and then not being able to chage the captch directory address.

    I have recently had to reload my site because of my diabolical providor Powweb. I wondered if possibly an incorrect permissions somewhere.

    Please help ASAP. Fortunately the site is up but I cant make any changes on the inside and no new members!

    The following path you submitted is not valid:
    /home/users/web/b2582/pow.ummedia/htdocs/MY_SITES/seikolc/EE/images/signature_attachments/

    thanks in advance Adam

    Hey ummedia,

    I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

    Can you compare your path with what your what your hosting has told you. You might even get them on the phone. They may have changed it.

    Cheers,

    Hey ummedia,

    What do you mean it will not let you change it? That’s not good!

    What error do you get?

    Do you maybe have the paths hard coded in any of the config files?

    Can you view the DB? What does the database have for the values?

    Please let me know!

    Cheers,

    Can you explain a bit more please Shane. I havent touched anything but the ISP had to retrieve the site from back up because they changed the base dir.

    Hi Adam,

    The only reason those values can’t be overridden in the Control Panel is if they are hardcoded in your config.php

    Look in /system/config.php for values that looks similar to:

    $conf['sig_img_url'] = 'http://example.com/images/signature_attachments/';
    $conf['sig_img_path'] = '/path/to/images/signature_attachments/';
    $conf['sig_img_max_width'] = '480';
    $conf['sig_img_max_height'] = '80';
    $conf['sig_img_max_kb'] = '30';

    Cheers,

    Dan I have checked that there are no lines like that in the config file there must be another reason, can their DBs get locked somehow?

    Thanks Dan, its freaking me out especially as I want to upgrade the sites soon to EE 2. I just cant afford for them to go down. I dont think its an EE fault though Im sure my ISP is to blame somewhere.

    Looks like the issue came down to just making sure we had the new file path in place after the host changed it. Once that was confirmed, everything worked fine!
