This question may be related to a resolved thread.

Same problem here: seems to be something in the air? I’ve been developing a site for 6 months with no troubles and suddenly today, none of the templates will save as files. I haven’t done anything differently—haven’t upgraded, haven’t tweaked any server settings. I’ve reviewed the fora and tried all the usual suspects:

    PHP Safe Mode: Off
Path to ‘templates’ folder is correct (unchanged)
    Permissions set to 777

Just spontaneously stopped working this morning. Totally puzzled, any ideas?

    Hi Sprocketeer,

What version of EE are you running?

Have you checked your hosting disk quota to make sure you didn’t reach your limit?

    It’s version 2.5.1.

Re: quota, it’s well under 10% of my limit, though I hadn’t thought to check that. Any other ideas? Thanks…

    Hey Sprocketeer,

What hosting service do you use?

I ask because I have another case identical to this one and the hosting company had changed the users path without notifying them. Wondering if you have check your webroot path (which is never supposed to change) recently?

    Thank you,

OMG that’s exactly what happened—I figured it out yesterday afternoon. I use Media Temple and they did indeed change the server path without telling anyone, much to my chagrin. Once I (accidentally!) stumbled on the answer, suddenly everything started working again, not just saving templates but file upload preferences, etc. Love love Media Temple but that’s some epic lame.

    Thanks…

I can’t believe they would do something like that without telling people. I don’t think I would ever think about checking the server path. Good to know. Thanks Shane.

    Hey guys,

That is pretty lame. Hopefully it was just an oversight. Glad this is resolved. I am keeping this in mind as I find other cases with the same issue.

If you need anything else, please just let me know by opening a new thread.

    Cheers,
