I am working on a website that has some web banner graphics to promote pages deeper in the site. Thing is I am not sure what the best way is to manage these through the EE CP.

It would be great if a CP Admin could add a banner to any page and in any position (within reason of course) they like but with the template system that EE has I can’t see a way this could be done.

Does anyone have any ideas, experience with this, as I am sure I am not the first to want to do this? OR suggestions for modules or plugin’s that can assist with this. I know EE has a ‘Snippets’ feature which I will look into more as a possible and also I have heard of the ‘Structure’ add on but still reading up on that one.

    Hmm…

What about a basic Find & Replace approach?  Client drops in unique value, and use a Find & Replace plugin to detect it and swap in banner code?

Edit to add:  I don’t think *any* position will be easily do-able, but if you can pre-define a few options based on what makes sense with the layout that should be do-able (and probably have better end results anyway).

Thanks I will read up on this ... however I am not a server side developer, but front end. I was hoping EE could do most of this out of the box. After all it is software.

There may be an “out of the box” way but it would depend on how you’ve implemented the site in EE.  “It’s software” is true but it’s used by people in vastly different ways.

You could, for example, define 4 places where clients can put ads.  Create 4 fields in the field group driving that section of content. Then use template logic to check for something in the fields, and display the image if there was one there.  This would work so long as the client didn’t want the ad in the middle of a large chunk of text content that you’ve got stored in yet another field.

I see, thanks for the response. I will think on this one.
