One of my channel fields is for the user to enter a website address. I was therefore wondering if there is a way to prefill this form field with the prefix “http://” to attempt to ensure they include this for the website address?

    Hey Mediakitchen,

I am not aware of a way to prefill this field unless you are using an external form. Then you could use simple HTML to add that to the text field. They could of course remove it, but it’s one way to accomplish this.

Were you looking for a prefill in the Control Panel?

    Cheers,

    Thanks for the reply Shane.

Yes I was looking for prefill in the Control Panel. Is that possible?

    Hey Mediakitchen,

Not that I know of. I did a quick search at Devot:ee, but I do not see anything.

I can move this over to the Community Help Forum to see if there are any ideas, but they will probably require a core hack if it’s at all possible.

    Cheers,

Thanks and happy for you to move it over. It is not a show stopper but would be useful to be able to do.

I’d recommend having a look at VZ URL - it also does a check of the URL they’re entering to ensure it’s valid.
