I know many CodeIgniter developers are getting into big data and need to manage mysql data especially when it starts to grow more than 5 gigs worth where it can be a challenge. I wrote a quick blog post as a starting point for beginning to manage such data and wrote a linux script to move that data up to s3 fairly easily.

Kind of off topic here, but I was looking at S3 for a business idea that I had and found it was to expensive for what I wanted to do. Granted with backups and needing them you’d be willing to pay any price if things go bad, but was wondering if you looked at any other storage solutions for this type of backup?
