    Hi peeps

    I am trying to use SafeCracker for the first time and I have followed the instructions, but nothing appears on the page.

    The code I’m using is as follows:

    {exp:safecracker channel="save_properties" return="pages/SafeCracker_Return"}
    <label for="title">Title</label>
    <input type="text" name="title" id="title" value="">
    <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit">
    {/exp:safecracker}

    And the page is here: http://4letproperty.co.uk/index.php/pages/SafeCracker_test

    In Extension Setting: SafeCracker I have set the Save Properties channel to “Open”. I have even tried to allow guests to post and selected my username and selected the Guests user group, but to no avail.

    One weird thing is that now that I have allowed guests, it won’t allow me to disallow them. I can’t deselect the “Allow guests to post” checkbox; or at least when I do and then submit the form, it reselects it again.

    Cheers
    Gabe

    Apache 2.2.21
    PHP 5.2.17 and 5.3.10 (dual environment)
    Perl 5.8.8
    MySQL 5.1.52

    Hi Gabe,

    SafeCracker takes a bit of planning to get going, but once you have it, it’s really a treat.

    In the SafeCracker Module preferences, make sure you have a member selected that is allowed to post. I suggest adding a SafeCracker User member to your Member group. Once you have that set, make note of the member’s ID and use it in the preferences.

    {exp:safecracker
                channel="save_properties"
                url_title=""
                logged_out_member_id="4"
                return="register/thank-you"
              }

    Note the logged_out_member_id parameter. That is key if you intend for non members to edit or add entries via SafeCracker.

    If you can give me a run-down of how you need to use SafeCracker, I can walk you through the setup.

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan

    Thanks for your help there. I have now got it up and running. It would be really useful to have that information in the user guide. It would have meant that people wouldn’t need needed to ask tech support and it would save people time.

    Thanks again
    Gabe

    Hey Gabe,

    I am glad this is working now and that Dan was able to help.

    Please note that this is in the documentation. Allowing Guests to Post Entries.

    If you need anything else, please just let me know by opening a new thread.

    Cheers,
