I have been having a bit of trouble getting the CP to behave as expected in IE7/8.

The site I am working on - still in development - was started on EE 2.40, and I was planning to use Wyvern. However, the client noticed that Wyvern fields were disappearing on page load. So I upgraded to 2.5.2. (I upgraded Wyvern, too, but have since uninstalled Wyvern and am currently using the native RTE.)

    Now the situation is:

IE8: RTE fields are appearing. But the file field in upload forms is broken. Please see attachment.
IE7: RTE fields do not display, file upload broken as in IE8, and also the site’s Matrix fields have stopped working (Matrix image thumbnails do not display)

No problems in IE9 - or any other browsers.

I have tried disabling accessories and extensions, but this doesn’t help. I also re-uploaded themes.

Above all I really need to get file upload working in IE8, as there will be large number of site admins,  and some are bound to be stuck with old IE.

    Hi Zach,

I’m sorry for the trouble you’ve had with the RTE and IE.

We’ll have to focus on your problems with IE 8, since lower versions of IE are not supported for use with the Control Panel.

When you performed the update, did you make sure to update /themes as well? The part is often overlooked and is generally the cause of UI oddities.

I look forward to your reply.

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan,

Yes, as mentioned in the original post, I re-uploaded the themes folder.

So I guess we’ll ask the admins to use a different browser?

    Hi Zach,

Yes, as mentioned in the original post, I re-uploaded the themes folder.

I’m sorry, I totally missed that.

I don’t have IE8 running anywhere at the moment to test with. I’m sure it would be a bug. Especially given that it works in other browsers no problem. That at least rules out Member Group permissions as a fault.

Do you have IE8? Have you verified the experience?

    Cheers,
