Numbers as category URL

I’m categorizing an online magazine that has back issues for several years. I can’t think of any way other than using the years as the category names, and semantically that’s what makes sense for the URLs too. Yet numbers are not allowed for the category URLs. Is there any way to change this, or a workaround of any kind?

    Hi Matthew81,

Ideally, you would want to set the entry date for your active issues to the correct date. Then ExpressionEngine can do most of the heavy lifting for you!

With the entry dates set properly, you could have a template named “archive/year” and then pass a URL like so:

    archive/year/2001/

And EE would grab the entries that were in 2001 and render them to the template.

You could also take advantage of the Archive Month tag or Low Yearly Archives.

    Cheers,
