Hello! I have a commercial license of EE. And I’d like to add another non-commercial site that’s totally separate. Which multi-site license to I buy to add the other site? Non-Commercial or commercial?

Also, should I buy and install the multi site thing first and then buy the new, non-commercial EE site or vice-versa?

    Thanks!

    Hi DymaxionGroove,

Thanks for your interest in Multiple Site Manager!

When it comes to using MSM, there are a few things to know. It must be installed on the same server as the main installation and all additional sites must be served from there as well.

Also, any sites managed with MSM must be owned by the same parent entity. For instances, all of the EllisLab sites are in MSM because we own each web property.

With that in mind, since your first site is a Commercial license, you will need the Commercial license of MSM as well.

If you have any other questions or need clarification, I’ll be happy to assist.

    Thanks!

Sounds good. All the sites are on the same server and I own all of them.

However, I’ve gotten new requirements, so let me see how this would work:

Goal-  Running two sites with commercial licenses running Store, same warehouse for products, two different domain names.

I already have the first site up and running with store installed. So to to accomplish the above goal, I’m guessing I need to do the following in this order:

    1) buy the second license of EE and Store

    2) Install EE and then Store

    3) Buy multi-site license and install it to integrate the two sites under one control panel.

    Correct?

    Thanks!

    Hi Tom,

    Not quite…

It looks like Store is MSM aware, so that’s a good start. You would buy the Commercial license of MSM, that covers you for 3 sites total.

    Then… profit?

It honestly should be that simple.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Cheers,
