Is there any way to get an email generated when a particular user updates or edits an entry? The email would need to be sent to a group of “subcribers” or “followers” of a particular author.

Hi Mxchic,
You should use MX Notify Control. This is very nice add-on and works great for most of notifications including entry publish/edit.
