This is my first time upgrading a 2.x installation. The upgrade instructions do not specify that we’re to replace /system/expressionengine/config/config.php with the old version. Is that correct, for upgrading version EE 2.x to the latest build?

(I seem to remember that for version 1.x, that was one of the files we had to replace.)

    I’m following the directions here:
    http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/installation/update.html

And while I’ve made my backups, I wanted to confirm this bit before I started the upgrade, since it’s a change from what I remember from 1.x upgrade procedures.

You’ll need to restore config.php. The directions mention it (along with a couple of other files/directories) in the “3. Restore Modified Files” section.

    Hey Lesli,

Manoj is right, check section #3.

The guide that you have linked to will work perfectly.

    Great job making a backup.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

    Cheers,

    Hi Shane, Manoj,

Thanks for the gentle notice to read the instructions more carefully 😊 I only read as far as this point:

Restore any modifications made to the following files, such as updating the system folder name or path:
    admin.php
    index.php

And wondered…hey what about the config file? That bit, of course, was further down. And my mind still wasn’t used to looking at / for the longer system-folder path names of /system/expressionengine/config/config.php that I kind of blanked.

I did upgrade this morning, ran into that typo in upd.module.referrers, had a miniature panic, fixed it, and am now humming along on version 2.5.1.

    Again, thank you both!
