I have a complex MSM install using structure that I am looking at giving users access to specific pages to modify.  The pages are controlled through structure but I only want to allow members of a specific user group to modify the entries that they are the author of.

I would think the easiest way to do this would be to set a member group as an Author, or let me manually assign each person in the group as multiple Authors for the entry.

Anyone have tips, clues, direction etc…

    Thanks in advance.

I am also interested in this (although not in an MSM setup).

If you’re able to purchase an add-on for this, the Solspace User module has an added feature that will let you add multiple authors to a channel entry.  From the description:

“User also contains a special feature that allows you to assign multiple authors to a channel entry. This is done by using an additional tab in the Publish page of the ExpressionEngine CP. The admin can then select members from the member list to assign them to the entry as authors.”

If you’re looking into restricting members to editing their own pages via the CP,
that functionality is included in EE.
(member_group, settings, can edit entries authored by others = no )

SolSpace user-module doesn’t change this behaviour.

“... Basically, the ability to edit an author’s own entry will be limited to the author regularly set in EE. The multi-author feature will not allow these authors to edit the entry in addition to the EE author.”
(edit: see also the red box at: http://www.solspace.com/docs/detail/user_multiple_authors/ )

I am too, looking for a way to allow multiple editors to be able to edit a certain entry or a page, but not all pages.
(a possible work-around is with safe-cracker. Something like an extra authors field (member select fieldtype) which the members of course can’t change themselves (safe sharpener extension). Though, maintaining such a setup is a chore of its own).
