Hello! We are looking at moving to EE from a far, far, far less robust CMS.

However, I have been looking for some information (videos, etc.) as far as what using EE for developing our new sites would entail. We are looking at gaining insight into the ease of use and so on…

Are there resources out there that might provide this…or would an evaluation version be the better route to check it out first hand?

    Thanks!

My personal preference is to definitely try ee out.  Ease of use strictly depends on the user’s experience and preference and ee affords so many choices, it accommodates all.  Ease of use also may mean you start with a very simple site and move on to further complexity as your needs and interests demand.  The #1 reason to buy EE is the community - bar none the best. I started with ee in 2005.  EE has simply evolved by unimaginable leaps and bounds because of the top developers whose add-ons helped us tremendously because we were previously dependent on writing our own customizations.

    Hi Dave!

Thanks for your interest in ExpressionEngine and welcome to the Forums!

We have several videos available. I’d suggest looking at Installing ExpressionEngine and Getting Started with ExpressionEngine as good places to start!

    Thanks again and cheers!

What will be the best way to learn developing EE?

Is there any books that we can purchase?

    Hi noeclue,

My favorite resource to recommend is the book that I used to get going in ExpressionEngine.

The title is Building an ExpressionEngine 2 Site - Small Business. It’s really practical.

If you wish to be a developer, the best thing to do is know your PHP really well.

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers,
