All of a sudden without any changed to the site a lot of images (but not all) are now broken. The images exist on the server in the correct place but I get errors like this when trying to load the image URL’s:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/burtonphoto/htdocs/images/site/frontpage/Charlie.jpg on line 72

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘,’ in /home/burtonphoto/htdocs/images/photos/CanaryWharf_flipped_medium.jpg on line 74

Any idea what the problem is as I have changed absolutely nothing whatsoever.

    Using EE 1.6.4

    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Thank you for using the ExpressionEngine forums!

You may not have changed anything, but your host provider may have.

Have you check with your server host to see if they made any changes to your account? Ask them about changes to file paths or PHP versions.

I would also advise that you update to ExpressionEngine 1.7.2 There have been quite a few security enhancements since 1.6.4 was the current release.

    Cheers,

Will upgrading to version 1.7.2 necessarily make any difference?

Here is the phpinfo for the website. Is this all OK as far as EE is concerned?

    Thanks,

    Hi Andrew,

Like Dan said, there have been a lot of changes between 1.6.4 and 1.7.3, the latest release EE 1 as of today. Among them is support for the latest server environment upgrades that hosts have been making as of late. I would really highly recommend an upgrade.

Could you give us some more context for the errors you’re seeing? Tell us what you need to do to get those errors to appear, and provide more of the error message if possible.

Thanks for your help with this. I have now solved the main issue.

What is the easiest way of upgrading to the latest version of Expression Engine 1.

Also, can you recommend a good backup module for EE as our host is not taking regular SQL backups.

    Hi web design essex,

Safe Harbor is well respected and still being maintained for ExpressionEngine 1.x

There is also the option of taking them with an remote SQL client, but that is a manual process.

Is there anything else I can assist you with?

    Cheers,
