I’ve tried digging for this answer, but did not find anything.

How do you allow a member to login to the site when it is set to offline? (I’ve set the members group so that it can “Can view site when it is offline”).

    Hello chunky,

Thank you for posting your question here on the ExpressionEngine forums.

Is this a form for login that you have created on the front end or is this the Control Panel login?

    Thank you,

Front end.  I want to give members access to the front end even though the site is off line.

I tried editing the System Offline template—to include a login form—but the tags don’t parse.  What’s the point of giving offline access to member groups when they can’t login to the site?

    Hello chunky,

What version of ExpressionEngine are you currently running?

Are you using a form you created to login or the Control Panel login?

    Thank you,

A form that I created.  I don’t want to give access to the backend.  I want a member group to be able to use the site when it is offline.

    Hey chunky,

If the site is offline then the safecracker form is not going to show up on the front end. If you are not logged in, there is no way to know what group you are in, so showing the form is not possible. Does that makes sense?

Control Panel access is required to see the site when it’s offline.

    Does that make sense?

    Cheers,
