    Hi,

This maybe a weird question (I don’t know), but I was kinda surprised that it isn’t possible to automatically fill a dropdown-channelfield or checkboxes-channelfield with the title-field of another channel. It IS possible to fill it with selfmade channelfields.

I know this is possible with add-ons like playa for example, but it kinda feels like overkill. I only want to use it for our own site (coming online very soon!). I have a field called ‘related projects’ in my project-channel, with checkboxes which are automatically created by the ‘subtitle-channelfield’ in my project-channel.

It does the trick, but the only problem is that it’s kinda abstract to choose projects based on their subtitles instead of their title.

So, to make a long story short (sorry for that), is there an easy way to create a dropdown or checkbox field filled with title-fields instead of own created channelfields?

I’m also not affraid to make my hands dirty and program something myself, I’m just not experienced enough to do it from scratch right now! Thanks in advance!

Oh btw, I know of the relationship-field. I was hoping to do a multi-select relationship-field (with checbkoxes for example 😊 ).

    Hello Silo,

Thank you for posting your question here on the ExpressionEngine forums.

I think Playa is your best option here for getting what you are looking for in the Control Panel. I would love to see the ability to automatically populate fields in one channel with fields from another channel like title. I have seen it as a Feature Request so I know it’s on the radar.

Is there anything else I can help with?

    Cheers,
