I’m about to take my first EE website live.  I’ve found the system to be entirely reliable and no shocks have been encountered along the way. There is always the worry with any system that something might go wrong when the site is live.  I’ve built my site with a few trusted add ons that are highly rated. My question is what types of problems have people encountered with ee sites over time? What sorts of things can go wrong?  Can the MYSQL database give rise to problems?  It’s just to factor this in to my reckoning to assess the level of risk. How do you mitigate this risk?  Thanks for any pointers at all!!

    Congratulations!  You’ll love ee.

Timely frequent backups are critical.  Use Askimet or equivalent.

    You worry too much…;)

Roll it live, celebrate with your beverage of choice and make sure backups are being done (a good web host should be doing it for you).
