On one panel I am getting additional line breaks on each line. The panel already had line breaks but EE was adding an additional line break (
). This caused there to be double spacing. There are several other panels that follow the same model and access the same table and do not have the issue. I verified that the formatting is set to NONE and not XHTML. This is on EE v2.4.0 - Build: date 20120123. The strange thing is that this happens in production but the development environment does not have the problem. This means that the data has to be different between the two systems which is awkward. Both systems are EE 2.4.0. Is there any way to verify that internally the system is seeing that there is supposed to be no formatting? Is there any thing else that could be at fault?

    Hi pgikkas,

    I’m sure this is frustrating!

ExpressionEngine stores a lot of settings in the database, so if the 2 databases aren’t exactly the same, that would have an impact.

The places to check are the overall field formatting options when you edit the field in the field group. Also, if allowed, the formatting can be overridden at the channel entry level, so you have to check there too.

The last place that could be a culprit is the templates themselves. If you have any differences in your templates, that could be a factor.

    Cheers,

I have three templates that are very similar. Only one has the extraneous break issue. The channel and field definitions are identical in both environments. The extraneous breaks did not initially appear in that one panel. It was formatting correctly until recently.
The template contains a paragraph tag “” around the channel field variable. When reviewing the generated source there is another paragraph tag generated.

    p.s.
I just deleted and reentered that data and the problem has disappeared. Must have been a random electron floating around in the ether.

    Please consider this issue resolved.
