I have a bunch of quotes in a channel and I just want to show any random 4 of them at a time.
The trouble is, it seems to select/sort/order them the same way every time.  What simple concept
am I missing here?

{exp:channel:entries channel="quotes" orderby=”random” dynamic="off" limit="4" disable="category|pagination|trackbacks|member_data"}

and I’ve tried it with dynamic on, just in case that was needed.

Not sure if the code you’ve posted is the exact code, or if it has anything to do with the matter, but I notice that the quotes around random is wrong?

Interesting…  I have no idea how that happened, but it totally makes sense.  It’s so often the little stuff isn’t it.  Thank you, that was it!

I had the exact problem with quotes, caused by copying the code for orderby=“random” off the EE documentation for the orderby parameter (http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/channel/channel_entries.html/#orderby).  Ouch.  Glad it is fixed though, this was driving me nuts.  Thanks for the answer.
