Last year, I came to ask for some help on how i could realize a search engine specialized in tee-shirts.

At the end, I was lacking time and the project was never completed.

Now that I have a bit more time I’d like to go on with that project with some changes.

I don’t know if you’ve heard about pinterest.com (in a few words, it’s like an online pinboard where people share pictures)

So this time instead of only doing a search engine for tee-shirts, I’d like to do it the pinterest way.

Basically it works the following way :

Members pins images on “boards”. They can have followers and they can follow people.
Each time a member pins something, each people following that member sees it too.

I don’t remember a lot from my last year experience with EE.
I know there is channels, custom fields etc. but that’s about it.

For this project, i’ll need :

    Members management.
A front-end member area for them to pin stuff, reorder, manage their boards.
    Some search capabilities.
Something that will automatically create the homepage with most popular pins.

What i don’t really know is how to start.
I mean should i store each pin (an image with some meta-data) in an entry or ...

If you had to do such a project, how would you handle the storing of data, relationships between pins and boards, board and members.

    Thanks for your time,

    Lionel
