    Hi
When I choose Content > Publish To > Channel X

I get to a page listing fields such as Title, URL Title and any custom fields I have assigned to a Template Group. In another CMS I use I can normally choose a template or layout at this stage. IE Sub Page with 2 cols. Sub page with 3 cols etc etc

Is there a way to set EE up so that I am given a choice of page layout somewhere?

    Thanks

I’m assuming you’re fairly new to EE, given the nature of the question.
EE does not presuppose any connection between your data and a layout so if you want to couple a given entry to a given layout you’ll have to set this up yourself.
Given your kind of “pages” workflow, I’d suggest starting by looking into the Pages module:
    http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/pages/index.html
There’s also an add-on http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/better-pages that makes this more intuitive.
Also look into the Structure module for a similar “pages” based workflow:

    Hope this helps.
