I still have one ee site lingering at v 1x because of the missing gallery module in 2.x. I understand how to build a gallery with the weblog module and for most purposes, this works great. But for this one site I really need the ability to read a number of images from a directory and turn them into a gallery (semi)automatically.

I found the “Image Directory Gallery” plugin by Brad Morse, which does a fine and clean job of showing all images in a directory, but I could not get it to work with any of the available resizers, so output control seems limited.

I also read a lot of good about the matrix, but as you still need to upload images through cp, it won’t help me in this case, I guess.

So, are there any other solutions out there that I missed?

I’m using DevDemon’s Channel Images, and I think it can be really great; very powerful with a lot of flexibility.

The only drawback, from my point of view, is that the documentation is very bare bones for a module that offers so much, and although they definitely keep this module up to date and respond to specific needs quite often and quickly, some important questions go unanswered for weeks.

I would use Channel Images, though, any time I need a gallery!

I also use channel images. I agree that documentation is very basic, but support is excellent, so if you need ANY help, Brad from dev demon will help ypu asap.

Thank you both, I bought the module and it’s great. You are right about the documentation, though… 😊
