    Hi,

I’m getting some weird behavior from a site I’m working on. When I go to log into the control panel using the superAdmin account I created when I installed the site, more often than not it makes me log in twice. I enter the username and password and instead of logging me in and going to the control panel, it brings up the login screen again with blank fields. If I re-enter, it works and logs me as it should. I’m running 2.3.1. Anyone have any ideas why his would be happening?

    Thanks,

    Brian

    Hi brianrivet,

When this happens are there any error messages? I just tried on one my sites and put in the wrong password and got an Invalid username or password. at the top of the screen?

We had this on our site once. I believe it was down to cookies being on the incorrect domain when we were forcing non-www to redirect to www.

That’s from memory and I may be crossing wires, but it’s worth looking at.

    Hi Brian,

Are you still experiencing this issue?

    Hi,

I’m having this issue on a customer’s site I’m working on. I just noticed that in the config file the setting “$config[‘cp_url’]” pointed to the staging server (slightly different domain name) and corrected this. I then logged out and then in again and it looks like this solved the issue.

    Hi,

Well… thanks, but unfortunately it only looked like it was solved :-(
One day later, after having rebooted the system, the situation is as it was before: I need to login twice to enter the site. I’ll continue searching and will post the solution, if I can find the issue.

Sorry for having been too optimistic in this matter.

    Cheers,
    Rolf André

    Hey RAKSoft,

    Well that’s not cool.

Please do let me know if you track this down.

    Hi,

Just a short update: after having read about Cookie and Session settings, I’ve changed the Cookie Domain (under Cookie Settings in the Admin | Security and Privacy section) to “.mydomain.com” - with the result that I could not log in to the site at all anymore!
Having solved that thanks to a saved copy of the database, I’m still at the same point… any help from others who may have had and solved this issue would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Rolf André

    Hey RAKSoft,

Can you show me your config file, I would like to know how things look now.

Is there anyway you can take a look at the system logs to see why you have to login twice?

    Cheers,

I’m experiencing this too on a couple of installations.
In parallel, the other annoying, is that Firefox doesn’t remember my username and password for the Control Panel on these installations.
So I have to copy-n-paste the password from my files every time - and then it goes back to the blank login form for a second try.

    Hello IC360,

Can you tell me a bit about your installation? Are you using cookies or sessions?

    Thank you,

    Thanks.
