    Hi

    I made a website in 2009. Expression-Engine 1.7.1.
Extension used: LG TinyMCE (v.1.3.3)  and the following plug-ins:
Character Limiter (v.1.0), Magpie RSS Parser (v.1.4), Randomizer (v.1.0), Word Limiter (v.1.0), XML Encode (v.1.2), Extract URL (v.1.0), Strip (v.1.0.3).

I’m not supposed to upgrade the site. But now suddenly they have a problem.

When they publish an entry; they type in a title, sometimes they can’t type text in a text field. When they publish an other entry, they can type in a text field but they can’t select words in the text field to make bold or something like that.
When they save the entry and reopen they can’t see the changes made a minute ago.
When you go back to the entry-list in edit and refresh the page (sometimes more then once) and then go in the entry you see your changes.
It seems like there is a delay button set on, I tried to publish myself and encountered the same problems.

What can cause such a mess?
    Can anyone help me, please?

    greetings,
    Franka

This sounds like a caching issue. Do you have any cache headers for the browser in the .htaccess file?

During development, I use the Web Developer Toolbar on Firefox a *lot*. One of its features is the ability to disable the browser’s cache with two clicks. This is very useful when debugging. Firebug is also great because it allows you to see what files the browser requests on each page load.

EE 1.7 was before I joined the EE community so I am just providing general troubleshooting tips. You may want to check the EE cache settings also.

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for replying. I tried a couple of times to get the same problem, but the site works well at the moment. So I just have to wait till it happens again.
I surely will use and have used your suggestions.
    again thanks
    greetings

Hi Chris if you are still out there,

    The problem occured again.
I thought first it was a tinyMCE problem, because it occured only in the textfield, but it isn’t. I do thnk it is a cash problem.
If I edit an entry and put text in it and update and then go back with edit this entry ... there is no text.
If I refresh the page (sometimes) there is text or I have to go to the button above edit and open the entry then I get the entry like it should be.
My client uses IE (newest), I use safari and firefox so I think it is not a browser problem.
I can suggest that they have to update to EE 2.x but I think I loose them as client if that doesn’t solve the problem.
    What can I do?

    greetings
    Franka
