This is really strange. Today my clients site was posting really old pages. When I looked into the template manager the data was 2 years old. When I opened the template files from the server (under “default_site”) the files were fine. For some reason the site had old data in the template manager files that it was reading and ignoring the template files that are on the server. The only way I can fix it is to copy/paste the code from the file on the server into the corresponding template file in EE. There should be an easier way. Any ideas on what caused this to happen? Is there any other way of getting the site to recognize the template files rather than copy/pasting them one-by-one into the EE template manager? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi design826,

This is strange and not at all helpful, I am sorry you are running into this.

Okay, so were there any changes? I know that this is the question you knew I was going to ask, so now it’s out of the way. An update? A server change like an OS update, Apache, PHP, MySQL? Maybe even moving the site to a new server?

What version is this? Our current version is 2.4, just for reference.

Let’s check the settings to make sure they are spot-on.

In the Control Panel please navigate to Design->Templates->Template Manager and then click on the button that says “Global Template Preferences” and then check two Preferences. Make sure that “Allow Templates to be Saved as Files?” is set to yes and that “Basepath to Template File Directory” has the correct path set. This should really never change unless you moved to a different hosting service, to a different server, or someone accidentally updated it and entered the wrong path.

One last question. When you go to edit an entry, is the “Save Template as File” check box still there?

Hopefully we can get to the bottom of this quickly.

I will be on the lookout for your reply!

    Cheers,
