This question may be related to a resolved thread.

I keep seeing a white flash on all page loads on this site:
    http://www.sc-ctsi.org

This happens on Chrome, Safari and IE, but not on Firefox.

Hmm, I think I might have tracked down the culprit. Loading up jQuery from google seems to be the stumbling block.

Just a quick note if it helps, since I am trawling a few tech support items for a moment.

What you are seeing, SC CTSI at USC, is one of the forms of what is called FOUC - flash of unstyled content.

It’s easy to get, especially when using JQuery, and is quite browser dependent, because each of them has different rules as to when it calls for display updates during a long browser load and styling period.

With that term, you can find lots of material on the web for dealing with the problem, at various severities that it may occur.

The short story is that it doesn’t have to do with ExpressionEngine itself, and it is something every web developer learns their own ways to deal with, according to page designs they work with.

    Regards,
    Clive

Yes, FOUC can be quite hard to fix. I effectively moved all my JavaScript to just before the </body> tag in order to fix it.
