    Hi there,

for some reason the live view always gives me troubles. this is on 2.4 and newest MSM.
So I have my live view template set up and tested to make sure that I can preview the posts. this works. I also set it up in the channel preferences. However, when I click on the ‘view’ icon in CONTENT - EDIT, I just get a blank page. it seems like the url isnt redirecting all the way.

would this be the correct url structure ?

    http://www.domain.com/?URL=http://www.domain.com/prev-post/161

when I delete the first url .. and only have http://www.domain.com/prev-post/161 .. then I can see the page

    Hi florian,

I’m sorry the URL isn’t redirecting properly for you.

I tested this on my local install, and everything worked as expected for me. What browser are you using?

If you select “View Site” from the MSM menu in the upper-right of the Control Panel, does that redirect work?

If neither of them work, then there may be something with the way your host provider handles redirects. What server environment are you running on?

Open Admin->System Administration->Output and Debugging. What is the option for “Redirection Method”? If you change the option and try again, does it work as expected?

    Cheers,

    Hey Dan

sorry about the late reply. I must have missed the email notification.

    - when I select ‘view site’ the same exact thing happens. It gets stuck on a blank page with http://www.domain.com/?URL=http://www.domain.com/

    - I tried both settings in admin ‘sys admin ‘output .. the refresh and the location method. both give me same results.
    - I also tried on FF and Chrome on Win and with Chrome on a Mac.

-> so perhaps this is my host then. I run on an average vps. standard setup. what do I need to ask/tell the host? or what do i need to look for ?

    Hi Florian,

    No worries on the reply!

Thanks for checking the behavior in all those different scenarios.

I would ask them if there is any setting or option to know about that would have an effect on redirects. If you are using .htaccess, that could potentially have an impact on this also.

    Cheers,

    Hi Dan,

so I removed the .htacces file both in the /siteb folder and in the root.. this didnt really fix anything. same issue still. i then posted with the host about redirecting. they send me this:

mod_rewrite module which provides a rule-based rewriting engine to rewrite requested URLs and its working fine on this server.
    ————-
    root@server [/home/fffab/www]# httpd -l | grep mod_rewrite
    mod_rewrite.c

is there ANYTHING else to check? i dont thin it has to do with MSM because I actually had same issue on a different account, also on this server, and it was non MSM website. weird!

can i ask the host anything more specific?

    Dan,

I am working through this with host.. they logged into CMS to check around. here is what they said:

Please check with the redirect URL contents in the files below:

    ===========
    ./jrs/.htaccess
    ./jrs/index.php
    ./jrs/admin.php
    ./ee/expressionengine/config/config.php

    Dan,

finally figured it out. there was an old index.php still around from the update to 2.4. That was creating the issue.
now its working as it should.

    Hi florian,

Fantastic! Yeah, that would have been a booger to sort out.

If you need anything else, just let us know.
