Not sure what happened. I’m using Simple Commerce to power this page:

    http://tupelomainstreet.com/about/join

When I set that page up I used the Simple Commerce control panel, but now when I login and try to access it doesn’t work. See this screencast:

I thought that the problem was I needed to upgrade my version of Expression Engine so I did that and I’m getting the same issue. I’m now running v2.4.

I can’t figure out why this is happening.

I actually figured out that it was the main link that wasn’t working. I am able to access the simple commerce control panel if I go through “modules > simple commerce”. But I had created a main link that no longer works. Is there a bug with this?

    Hello leemcalilly,

Thank you for using the ExpressionEngine forums.

I am glad you got this figured out. I do not believe it’s a bug, our bug tracker does not show anything and I just tested it.

If you have any more issue with this, please let me know.

    Cheers,

Not sure if it will be classed as a bug or not but there are definitely a couple of reports of this already on the forums and I’m fairly certain I put one in some time back and I may have even reported it as a bug (not totally sure on the latter though).

For me this kind of thing happens when the session ID is kept on the end of the link that the Control Panel makes. When logging in at a later date as the session ID string is different it will not allow the links to work. Changing to cookies only and then recreating the links normally works though.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Hrm- I tested on the current developer repo and can’t replicate using sessions only.  But I suspect Mark is correct concerning what’s happening.

Just for a test, leemcalilly- try switching to cookies only in the backend.  Log out- then log back in, create a new bookmark, log out.  When you log back in, is it working?  (And feel free to switch back to sessions after the test).

If that solves it for you, I’ll test again on the 2.4 build.  It’s not quite a bug (if that’s what’s happening), but it’s certainly undesirable behavior that should be addressed.

Also?  Thanks for the video- they always make it easier to see what’s going on.

Oh- and were you logged in as a superadmin when it was happening?
