Before i get started - nice in 2.4 the Edit menu at last!!!

Anyway, my point… A brief comment and out of interest question.
I have updated a couple of sites to 2.4 now over the past few weeks. And on each of them i do not have comments, so i suffer this bug:
    https://support.ellislab.com/bugs/detail/17380

Now for me, this is a simple, correct fix, easily made by me or you. But i wonder why the main package for 2.4 has not been updated to include this? I know this would make a build update, and mean you have to support different version of 2.4 as there is a change.
But why ship a product you know is flawed when it can simply be fixed and all new downloaders have a better install and use experience bug free?

I know this is a remarkably vague and general question to which there are many many answer and reasons. I just sometimes find it odd that software is not fixed when bugs are known. Its not like a physically shipped product on CD/DVD!
But then i am no software vendor - hence the question as to why!
    Thanks, N

    Hello nevsie,

Thank you for the compliment, I am glad you are happy to see the Edit menu in 2.4.

The answer to your question is that this is simply how software development works. We follow best practices and that is why we wait.

Is there anything else I can help you with?

    Cheers,

In which case, no that is fine as i thought it was the case.
Can i suggest then that you list known bugs, with fixes as part of the “if updating from” section. At least we have a known resource to refer to then!!?

    ***EDIT***
by known bugs - i mean pretty mainstream ones such as “cannot publish or edit an entry due to comments error” if that makes sense - see post above for the bug i mean! Thanks, n
