Can't Login to CP after 2.4 Upgrade

    Using custom system folder. Also can’t access http://www.domain.com/sys_admin to get to login. I must enter http://www.domain.com/admin.php

    If I try to access with /sys_admin I get the error

    Your system folder path does not appear to be set correctly. Please open the following file and correct this: index.php

    I have updated admin.php, index.php in document root. index.php inside /sys_admin & config.php

    I don’t know what else to do at this point. I have cleared cache, tried 4 different browsers, searched google for over 2 hours with no results. Help!!!

    OK, So i went back to square one and upgraded again. I can now get to domain.com/system

    I am stuck at the login screen though. Any time clicking submit redirects right back to login screen with no errors.

    also these are the steps I have tried so far to fix:

    1. Cleared all browser cache
    2. Deleted all cache files from server: expressionengine/cache/
    3. Added $config[‘admin_session_type’] = “c”  to my config.php file

    Hello ryanvosburg,

    I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

    What version did you update to?

    In your config.php file, what is listed for:

    $config['app_version'] = "";

    Let me know what you find. It’s possible that the update completed the second time, but did not actually update everything, which can happen on subsequent updates unless you follow these steps.

    I am having the same problem…can’t get past the log in screen for the admin.

    The config file shows the right version…
    $config[‘app_version’] = “240”;

    I’ve tried reseting the pw, but that doesn’t help either. Also, no error shows up so it’s really hard to see what’s going on. The site is still working fine though.

    Any ideas here?

    Hi ahattar,

    Are you also experiencing this after an update?

    Do you recall any other changes that were made since the last time you were able to login?

    If you look into your database at the exp_password_lockout table, do you see any entries there?

    If so, empty it out and try logging in again.

    Let me know the results.

    Thanks Dan. Turns out it was an issue with HOW I was accessing the admin (ip address vs domain) - it all works great now.
