    Hey All -

I’m trying to update a 2.2.2. site to 2.4.  The site was previously an EE1 install.

    Here’s the error:

    —————-

    A Database Error Occurred
    Error Number: 1091

    Can’t DROP ‘site_id’; check that column/key exists

    ALTER TABLE `exp_sessions` DROP `site_id`

    Filename: updates/ud_230.php

    Line Number: 68

    ——————

This is the second upgrade attempt, I thought it might be related (somehow) to having the comments module unistalled so had it all restored to 2.2, installed the Comments module and tried again.

This is on a dev server so it’s not a “site is hosed” moment, but would like to keep moving ahead with the upgrade as I’m hoping it clears the runway for some additions they want to do.

    Hi Mike,

I did some investigating and found a few threads with the same error and at the 230 upgrade and the solution was to roll back and try the upgrade again. Now I know you have already done to get the comments module installed. When you did your rollback did you completely drop the database as per the guide on retrying after a failed up grade?

    Hey Folks -

Looking at the volume of support requests in the forum here I can understand if you have a backlog. I just need to know I’m not being forgotten..😊

The frustration on my end is that I had this week set aside to get the site upgraded before I’m not available to these guys for another week.

    Well, it’s working.

For some reason I hit the update script again - without doing anything on the server or to the database, and it completed successfully.

You’d think that I’d be happy now, but honestly I have mixed feelings when I don’t know why something didn’t work and then don’t know why another attempt works.

You know I love you guys and love EE, right?  I’ve built my career around this product.  But it’s been a tough week watching a significant support request get almost a week old without significant input - or even a “We haven’t forgotten you” type message.  There are few things I dislike more than having to send “Still waiting” type emails to clients.  Feeling let down by EE is a new experience for me - one of the reasons I’ve always been such a strong support of the product is I’ve always felt that EE made me look like a Hero to clients, pulling off sites and backend features I’d be lost to do otherwise and always being timely with fixes when issues arose.

I have read Kevins post here where he mentions new support options coming soon and honestly it can’t be fast enough.

    Hello Mike,

I am very sorry that we did not get back to you in a timely manner. I understand the timeliness of your request and I am going to personally follow up to make sure that you get timely responses.

To be honest, there is a huge backlog and while we have some great support solutions on the way, we in no way have forgotten about people who are seeking support now.

I am as perplexed as you are that the update would complete like that with no changes. I am curious as to what the version in the config file says? Is it as expected?

If you have any more problems please update this thread. I am now subscribed to it, so I will know if you update it.

Again Mike, I am sincerely sorry for the wait time.

    Regards,

    Hey Shane -

Thanks for the response. I can’t speak for others but for me just a simple “no answers yet but we haven’t forgotten you” message would have helped.  Otherwise it’s a bit scary to see your issue dropping to page 4-5 of the forum…;)

    The config file has:

    $config[‘app_version’] = “240”;

So far - after updating both EE and all the 3rd party stuff I used - the site looks to be functioning fine.  I’ll know more after the client logs in and works with it a bit.

Thanks for all you guys do!  I was on your side of the fence for a short time and know that it can be a demanding and often thankless job - so appreciate it greatly.

    Hey Mike,

Sounds great! I appreciate you graciousness and patience.

I will leave this open a bit longer just to make sure.

    Happy Friday!
