This question may be related to a resolved thread.

Effectively, I have 8 MSM sites setup, I’ve just purchased a 9th and updated the MSM files in my EE install (v 2.3.1) to 2.1.2 (20120123). Now when I click “Create New Site” I get a 500 error. Anything you can suggest I may have done wrong?

    Hi Blis Web Agency,

Oh man, I’m afraid we have ourselves a version mis-match.

Adding new sites to MSM after a feature release of ExpressionEngine (2.4) is a catch 22. MSM (and Discussion Forum) are updated along with EE and are meant to be used in tandem.

All that to say that MSM version 2.1.2 is intended to work with EE 2.4

Is there any way for you to update ExpressionEngine to 2.4?

    Cheers,

I can (and will) but was going to postpone doing so immediately. I did however backup MSM 2.1.1 before upgrading and have just put the controller back and everything seems ok again. Both the lang file and library file however come from the 2.1.2 - can you see any issue with this moving forward until I upgrade?

You might notice an odd looking or exposed language key, but overall it shouldn’t present any issues.
