Not a huge crisis for me, but since I’ve upgraded to EE 2.4, the Comment Module doesn’t seem to be behaving correctly.

For eg. .. the filter by date option is not returning the entries in chronological order.

Also, I can’t find the most recent comments unless I choose ‘Last 24 Hours’ or ‘Last 7 Days’ ... filtering by the date column used to work just fine.

Filtering alphabetically doesn’t appear to work across ALL comments, just the 25 comments appearing on the page ... seems to be perhaps how the date filtering is work as well.

This doesn’t appear to be normal behaviour ... just thought I’d bring it to your attention.

    Hello markphillip,

I am sorry to hear you are running into this problem.

I am attempting to recreate this and so far I have not had any luck.

Would you mind showing me the code you are using? I would love to recreate this exactly or as close to your method as possible.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Cheers

It’s not any code ... it’s within the actual Comment Module itself ... perhaps me writing this in Tech Support was a mistake ... perhaps it should’ve been a bug report?

    Hello markphillip,

I understand now. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

I have tried to reproduce this bug by going to Add-Ons->Modules->Comments and sorting on date and alphabetically. These are working for me. I am also able to see the most recent comments without having to select “Last 24 Hours” or “Last 7 Days”.

You are on version 2.4 of ExpressionEngine. Out of curiosity, is your Comments Module version 2.2?

Would you be willing to post a screen shot or two showing the comments page as it looks when you arrive and then one with the sort by date and the results of that.

I am not saying this is not a bug, I may not be testing the same way you are. If this is a bug, then it would be great to file a report for it and get it fixed.

    Cheers,

I’m on the latest EE 2.4 and the Comment Module is 2.2.

Here are a few screenshots ... you can see the inconsistencies in the sort ... there are dates that are newer that don’t show and names that alphabetically *should* come first but aren’t.

I’m assuming that this sorting functionality exists for ALL comments in the system, not just the ones showing on the current page (there are 3 pages of comments currently).

    Hello markphillip,

It looks like a bug to me so I filed one.

I was able to reproduce the issue with sorting chronologically.

Be sure to comment on the bug to stay up to date on it’s progress.

    Cheers,
