    Hello all,

I have a couple of download buttons and would like to track how many times they have been clicked.
The file to be downloaded is not sitting on the sites server, its external, so the best thing to track would be clicks on the button(s).

Is this something built into EE by any chance?

Could anyone give me a pointer on how to get going on something like this?

    Thanks in advance!

    Perhaps using the built in Entry_views? ( http://ellislab.com/expressionengine/user-guide/modules/channel/entry_tracking.html )

Make the download link, actually go to another template, which forces the download (PHP header() or something), but also updates the entry view for the entry?

it can be done by calling Jquey/Ajax on-click event and update the relevant database table. this will be a easy way. using it, you can track total clicks at any particular date also.
