1. Did step by step upgrade from 2.3.1 to 2.4.0
2. Login to CP.
3. Click Publish->Edit
4. See screenshot attached.
5. Repeated upgraded process.
6. Same result.

is your database called “ee_database”?
in your ee_database, does your comments table (exp_comments) exist? (either using phpMyAdmin or the query tool in EE?)

is your database called “ee_database”?
if it is, it appears that your comments table has been deleted.

Yes, that’s the name.
It would appear it has. Comments aren’t used on this site, but seems to be a new requirement to view entries in 2.4?

Our site also does not use comments in any way.
The update to 2.4.0 went smoothly… and now this.

it appears that by installing the comments module, this error goes away and puts you back in service
