So I have a job board site.

There’s a Jobs channel where members who are employers can post entries which are job ads.

There’s an Applications channel where job seekers can post entries which are applications to the jobs.

The Applications channel includes a Relationship field that relates to the Jobs channel, so
when a job seeker posts an application, he chooses the job he’s applying for in a dropdown field such that his application is related to a specific job ad.

I want to allow an employer to get an email notification whenever someone applies to one of his jobs.

Any idea how I can do this?  Perhaps it needs custom programming?

I’m using Zoo Visitor for member management if that helps.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I considered that, but I think I’d still have to hard-code email addresses in the recipient field.  So I couldn’t have it detect the author of the related job post and sent it to that person.

Ah, I see. Bummer. You could always contact Max directly, he’s quite a responsive developer.

If the entries in your Jobs channel are posted by the employer then you should be able to pull in the authors email address from their profile information to populate the mail form recipient field?

But would Max’s add-on be smart enough to pull a specific email address based on a related field?

I guess I’ll have to try it.

e-man, MX Notify was actually exactly what I was looking for. Now I don’t have to start a new thread.
