    Hi everyone,

I am starting a new web project, and once again too much time flew since last time…

I am wanting to explore a new workflow and try Espresso and Mountee instead of Coda and templates saved as files.

As I understand it is quite a popular way among the EE community, and indeed it seems nice and very efficient, but one thing seems wrong: I can’t have the live preview working…

Locally, it works fine, but with Mountee the php color-coded page turns into a txt-like page instead of a preview…

I am a total novice with both software, and not a EE guru either, so I might do something strange.
Mountee seems pretty straightforward, so I suppose I don’t use Espresso the right way, or is there something in EE CP to turn on/off or adjust?

May I ask ask for your setup advices and a little help to get this working.

    My steps:
    - connect to my server with Mountee
    - start a new Project in Espresso, locating the Mountee drive

The groups and templates I had already created in the CP appear, I can create or modify them, and the changes are visible in a web browser. Everything seems fine, except the Espresso live preview. No big deal, but annoying…

    Any advice?

Thanks for your time and your help.

You’ll need to point the preview to the pages on the server that you’re previewing. So you need to modify the address manually as in the attached image.

Personally I like to use Coda, and it works especially well with an alias so you can see files and templates side-by-side. Unfortunately, Espresso doesn’t seem to support aliases.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll try that, and I definitely try the Coda + aliases 😊

I must admit I am not overly convinced by this new workflow, I let myself a few more work days to have a better global impression before deciding. It’s hard to break habits I suppose…

I also a had a terrible internet connection these days, so Mountee volumes disconnected every few seconds, it doesn’t help.
