Caution: VERY new EE user (first post, first forum search, etc.) here, please package your answer in bubble wrap…I’m fragile…thank you! 😊

I’m just diving into EE on behalf of my employer. The problem I’m having is pretty simple:
    - We have an entry called “Home” that is our home page slideshow, sidebar, etc.
    - The sidebar content appears fine in the control panel - each sidebar item has an image, a headline, text, and a link…
    - ...but the links don’t work, even though they’ve been chosen carefully from a dropdown list.

Every time the home page is viewed, the links render as a “#” instead of the actual pages to which they should point.

I’ve attached a screenshot of the control panel page. Is there something obvious I’m missing? I’ve cleared caching, etc.

Thanks for any suggestions. I know the definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results, but that doesn’t keep me from trying to select other links, adding/deleting rows from the sidebar, and retrying over and over again…always with pound signs instead of real links. Uggh!!

    Hello bucksommerkamp,

Welcome to the forums! We are glad to have you as a part of the community.

I am sorry to hear you are having some trouble with ExpressionEngine and Matrix. Matrix is a 3rd party application but we will do what we can to help you out and get this resolved. You may want to also check out Pixel & Tonic’s Matrix.

It sounds like maybe the link tag is missing from either the channel field or the template.

Can you check in the Control Panel by going to Admin-> Channel Administration-> Channel Fields: “field group name” and click on the “field group name”. Then find the matrix field and look in the Matrix drop down list and in there you should be able to set the visual cue and the link. Check to see if the link is set correctly.

If the above checks out, then you will want to look at the template you are using to display this page. You can paste that here if you would like or search the template for the “#” sign.

    Cheers,
