    Hi

I have a question about another issue. You might be able to guide me to the right solution. I am working on the portfolio site with a lot of thumbnails. What I want is to add a dynamic ajax loader with gif animation (fade in and out effect) to both the navigation menu and the pagination. Could you possibly suggest a technique that would work with an EE2 template? I have been reading forums, but couldn’t find the right answer.

    Thank you in advance

    Hi nermin,

Since EE templates can hold standard HTML and javascript, any usual technique should work just fine. Can you provide an example site that illustrates what you are trying to accomplish? Have you looked into anything specific with javascript or jQuery that you have in mind? Give me a few specifics and I’ll see what pointers I can provide.

    Thanks!

    Hi Dan

Thank you for your reply. To help you understand what I want I can try to describe the structure of my page: The site I am working on has a portfolio page, showing a range of the thumbnails. The page comes from a Channel called ‘portfolio’ and a ‘Channel Field’ called ‘portfolio’ too. The Cannel Field has 4 custom ‘Field Labels’ that contains ‘thumbnail_image’, ‘thumbnail_label’, ect.

What I want to achieve with the load of the portfolio page is to have a dynamic load of the thumbnails only, meaning not a dynamic load of the entire portfolio page.
The load of the thumbnails could be with a gif-loader or a gradual fade effect of the thumbnails while they finish loading.

I have been looking into different solutions with jQuery, but the ones I have been able to find operate with a technique where the page is loading through a navigation menu. This doesn’t give a clean url.

Hope this explains things better, and that you might be able to help me out with a possible solution. Thanks.

    Hi again

I just found an example of the thumbnails effect that I tried to describe above. Behance ProSites has a lot of sites with thumbnails fading while loading, http://prosite.com/home/examples or http://emmahopkins.co.uk/ could be concrete examples. Any suggestions on how to achieve this within an EE2 template?

I am aware of the jQuery ‘load’ function, which can load an external page into the template. What I am interested in is a way to load thumbnails of the posts in the front page - having this load effect.

    Hope for some answers.

    Best N

    Hi nermin,

This really starts to delve into an area that is beyond the scope of ExpressionEngine support and more toward a jQuery how-to. To that regard, I’m going to migrate this thread into Community Help to see if the broader community can offer their expertise.

    Cheers!
