I’ve got a somewhat unusual feature request from a client. It’s a website for a school alumni association. Basically they have a list of their alumni, and then let Alumni go into the website and “claim” that they are that person and then just fill out their profile/user. I’ve been trying to think of how to make this happen. I know I’ll use either Zoo Visitor or Profile:Edit since I need to let them modify their info in a good looking interface, but I haven’t been able to solve the whole “claim” deal.

Any and ALL ideas are welcome!

Is the Alumni list made up of existing EE member accounts?

Well, I don’t know what the best approach is. Would pre-creating accounts be the best approach? Maybe I could create a list of entries and use that somehow.

I posted cause I really have absolutely NO idea how to get this working xD

You could do that, obviously you’d have to add all the accounts in the first place. Once someone can prove who they are your client would send them login details to modify the profile.

Alternatively you could simply publish a list of people and manually remove names as and when they register?
