I am trying to get a random sample from each subsection of my site showcased on the front page. Two of the subsections are wikis, however. Is it possible to get a random article from each to appear within the output from a regular EE template?

Edited to add: this is on EE 1.x but solutions that will work when upgrading to EE 2.x as well are very much preferred.

This sounds like a perfect use-case for an add-on I’m currently writing: http://rog.ee/wikibits

(While it’s trivial to embed content from a wiki article in another wiki article, I don’t know of a way—yet—to get wiki content into templates, except by directly querying the exp_wiki_revisions table in the database.)

Unfortunately, I don’t have a stable version just yet, but shoot me an email and I’ll make sure to tell you when it’s ready.

That does sound just right, but you’re just doing EE 2 from what I can see on the webpage? If so, I’ll have to bookmark and revisit when I am able to upgrade (I am stuck waiting on the gallery converter).
