This question may be related to a resolved thread.

When I try to upload an image, I get the following error: “The upload path does not appear to be valid.”

I have checked the permissions on the uploads folder (it’s 777), and tried the whereami bit to make sure I have the complete, correct server path. I’ve checked safe_mode via the php info function, which was the original poster’s issue from the thread above, and it’s off. Does anyone have suggestions of what to do next? I also don’t have shell access to the server- my client chose to go with Network Solutions, so all I’ve got is FTP.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi espresso_elegance,

Can you give Health Check a run and see if any issue pops up there.

You may have a base path restriction.

What does the format of your server path look like?

What version and build of EE are you using?
    Are you using any add-ons?

    Hi John,

    Thanks for responding!

I gave health check and run and it says “Everything looks great. All systems go, captain”. Is there other info from there I should copy?

The format of my server path looks like this - I took out the actual numbers and replaced with o, I’m not sure if that was necessary tho.
    /data/oo/o/ooo/ooo/ooooooo/user/ooooooo/htdocs/

I’m using version 2.3.0, and as far as add-ons I’m using List Maker and the page modules. I think safecracker is also there by default.

    Hey espresso_elegance,

    Welcome to the forums!

Can you check the server path in your PHP Info from within ExpressionEngine, and see if that matches up with what you have set in your upload settings?

This “How To” video will show you how to find your server path from within ExpressionEngine.

Double check that the upload paths and urls are correct.

If you create another upload directory, do those settings work?

    Thanks!
