    Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone out there new how to get the categories into the layout on the publish page? It seems you can do almost anything with the Publish Layout Toolbar so Im guessing its just me.

    Thanks

    Hey davib,

Yep, you certainly can get categories to show on the publish tab. Hopefully you can get all setup by following these steps.

First, click “show toolbar” on the “Publish Page” so you can edit the layout.

Then, click on the “Categories” tab.

Next, on the handle that appears next to the categories field (note your cursor will turn into directional arrows) click and drag that field to the “Publish” tab. You’ll see the “Publish” tab turn pink. Simply let go and the categories field will pop into the “Publish” Tab.

You can now reorder the category field to the location you want them on the “Publish” tab.

Now on the sidebar, you can simply “trash” the “Categories” tab to remove the “Categories” tab from the list.

Then select the member groups to apply this layout to, and hit save.

Does this achieve what you are looking to do?

    Thanks!

    Hey Kyle,

I’m sorry it took so long for me to get back to you. Your solution worked perfectly and I got back into my project and forgot to say thanks!

    So Thanks!

Between Jae from Creat-ee and this forum EE has come together for me beautifully now and I’m just trying to tidy up little holes in my knowledge here and there.

    Cheers

    Hey Brett,

Glad to see you were able to get everything taken care of!

In trying to help “tidy up little holes” ones may have, we’ve started to put together a collection of short “How To” videos for the benefit of our users.

Hopefully they can teach you some cool tips and tricks you can do with ExpressionEngine. If you have any ideas as far as future topics for us to cover, we’d love to hear your feedback.

    Thanks Brett 😊
